I bought this game during the summer sale and just got around to playing it today. I just got to the undercity on taris ( like an hour in or so ) and I'm wondering if I skipped something or went here too fast because I litterally miss with every hit and Carth is just shooting them while i frantically hit the medkit button. I'm duel wielding swords, and both attacks miss. When I use a blaster the shots just go everywhere but where the mob is. I don't see anything I could've possibly missed because it's fairly linear, atleast to this point, so I'm kinda confused as o what's going on? Dual wielding takes a long time to become truly effective. Have you chosen the appropriate feats for the style you are trying to use?
Dueling is actually easier to use than two weapon fighting, dueling gives a bonus to accuracy and defense, it is the closest to a 'shield' you will get in this game.2. Did you clear all the apartment buildings, there are about 2 level ups for you in them (a little less than two but puts you well within striking distance of the next level). There are technically four apartment buildings, upper and lower city, and there are a few things in the upper city apartments that contribute to XP.3. Class has a major impact on accuracy early on.4. The animations in this game make it so it is impossible to hit with every blaster bolt fired, in general you can only get one hit a round.
DEX is very important to blaster accuracy.5. What are your attributes? If you are trying to dual wield with low STR or DEX you are in for a world of pain.6. In general this game favors the strong soldier at the earliest levels. They have the best chances to hit, the strongest health and the most feats available.7. Have you upgraded your armor at all?
There are a couple of relatively cheap armors, cheap but effective, sold by the merchant next to the apartment you start in.8. Are you using the Echani armor or the Republic armor? Both of those exceed most of the armors available to buy, espesially the Echani armor as it is easy to find the upgrade that gives it +2 for defense, for a total of +7, which I think makes it the best early armor, there may be better or equal ones for sale but the Echani armor is free, mostly.9.
Are you using the prototype vibroblade? It is the best melee weapon in the early stages of this game and is upgradable. The woman in the apartment next to yours has a problem that if you fix it for her she will reward you with a melee weapon upgrade, to start the quest enter her apartment, pick the lock or bash the door, or talk to the hutt in Javyars cantina.10. Have you been in the dueling ring at all?
The first two competitors are manageble at level three.11. In the prologue did you electrocute the Sith or activate the droid? You can do both, and the XP you get from it is very worth it.The main problem that you seem to have is simply you went to fast. The undercity should take you about 2-3 hours before you are down there. I chose soldier and I've just been auto-leveling for my first playthrough.
My armor is a combat suit I bought from the vendor that you see shortly after you leave your apartments, I didn't see any other armor I could buy. Yes, I have the prototype vibroblade, I think I found it in the prologue. I fought both of the first competitors, and only electrocuted the sith, I thought activating the droid would be a waste of the resources they gave you.I'm thinking of just making a new character with the things I know now in mind, and try to not auto-level.
There should also be a melee weapon upgrade in the prologue, never sell any melee, ranged or armor upgrades, they are incredibly rare and hard to find. There are locked doors in all of the apartments and there is always something to do behind them but the last apartment leave the door alone until you have leveled some.Did you find the armor in the prologue? There are many armors for sale in both the first merchant and the other one named Kebla, I would avoid anything over 300 credits because you shouldn't have that much and it isn't that worth it after finding the Echani armor (I think it is called 'Echani Fiber Armor' in the game). It is a good idea to mess with any console you come across and reactivate and upgrade every droid you can because those actions will give you more XP, just wait until you are done to put a droid in patrol mode. If you electrocute the Sith and activate the droid you should be able to level up right after you leave the apartment for the first time.

Always look at the number just below the hands in the equip screen. A positive number is good and increases your chance to hit your target, with the higher the better.
Similarly a negative number is bad. Also note that some attacks (like the base level flurry/power attack) also reduce chance to hit further, so you need to keep that in mind as well.Depending on your strength, I'd use two-weapon fighting when you reach the 'improved' level. For me as a scout that's at level 7. I'd use concussion grenades against some of the tougher enemies (in the dual ring) to ensure hits when wielding two weapons. You might still have periods where you miss a lot, but that's typically just bad luck. It's happened to me a few times in fights where you get rolls of 2, 5, 1 while the enemy's scoring rolls of 10+.
The real challenge is staying level 2 untill you get to Dantooine, since the max level limit is 20'th which means you can only get to 18 level jedi. Or lower if you main character levels up. I think you would have enough XP to be 8th or 9th level by that time depending on the class of your character, which means you could not be a high enough jedi level to get the really cool powers.I myself am a dual wield guy. But as was previously mentioned it is a long road to get proficient in.
You have to start early then suffer untill you are proficient enough to offset the encomberance of using two weapons Remember at level 1 your off hand is -6 and your main hand is -4 you will need to use upgraded weapons to offset those -'s untill your profeciency is high enough. Even completely maxed out in dual wield your off hand is -2 and the main hand is 0.
So keep that in mind.
In KoToR it was explained the armies of the Sith/Republic were going back to juggling melee and blasters to combat the newly built personal shield generators. Blasters would become useless so the soldiers would switch to blades that were not blockable by standard shields. They also needed some sort of defense against a lightsaber as the actual Sith had made a return and blasters were ineffective. It didn't give them a good chance against a force user, but it was better than sending them to die without any way to stop a saber. And how this links to TOR is I'm guessing the military doctrine from KoToR has stuck in the relatively similar Republic and Sith over the 300 or so years. Some species come from planets that either have not developed blaster technology, and are either uncomfortable, untrained, or unwilling to use them. Also for the same reasons that we still have melee weapons today. They are (or can be) lighter, more quiet, ect. Blaster weapons also require power cells to run, which may or may not be expensive to those without military or underworld financial backing. Oh on the point of lightsabers. Those are jedi weapons, and the knowledge of their creation, and how to maintain them seem to be pretty guarded. I have also been under the impression that wielding a lightsaber would be dangerous for someone not force sensitive. A force users heightened reflexes probably play a major factor in the reason why jedi are not known for self dismemberment. The blade of a lightsaber has no weight, it is purely energy and weightless.
The only part of the saber that has any weight is the hilt. Would be so easy to have it activated and turn the hilt just wrong where you sever something. Not to mention it probably gets even more complicated when lightsabers are clashing with each other. I could be wrong, but it seems possible that when a lightsaber hits another lightsaber, they tend to bounce off of each other unless both fighters are using their strength pushing. Reason I say it makes sense is I am pretty sure that is what 2 high powered plasma blades would do, would repel each other pretty hard I bet. Meaning you try to take on a force user, if you actually got a swing off, you would have to be careful where you saber got deflected to. Recitation: First, weapon selection is critical.
If I see one more idiot attacking a Jedi with a blaster pistol, then I'll kill them myself! Select grenades, sonic screamers, cluster rockets, and plasma charges. Mines are also effective, since many Jedi will run to meet you in hand to hand combat. Silly Jedi.Addendum: Gas attacks are effective if you can take the Jedi by surprise - inhalation is less effective than the ones that work on skin contact, as some Jedi seem to be able to hold their breath for long periods of time.Cautionary: Still, don't rely on it, since Jedi can fight off the effects, it just distracts them, leaving them open to another avenue of attack-Recitation: Do not forget to activate any energy shields you possess.
Lightsabers, while powerful, have trouble penetrating most military issue energy shields. Provided they are energy shields and not those crude Mandalorian melee shields.Confession: Countering their other powers is more difficult, I do not fully understand their other abilities, but I know that many of them require that the Jedi know you are there and be able to see you, thus sniping and using cover are always advantageous.Evaluation: A technique that Revan used frequently was to attack a Jedi indirectly.
This method only works if the Jedi is adhering to the self destructive path of pacifism and sacrifice.Answer: Kill their allies, or place them in jeopardy, many Jedi will leave themselves exposed to help another. That is why there is many less Jedi then there was a decade ago.Explanation: Statistically, overplanning the assassination of a Jedi seems to backfire.Extrapolation: There are many theorists who claim Jedi can see the future, and I don't know if that is true, but it seems that impulsive acts are more comment to succeed than planned incidents. Jedi, like sand-kivers, seem to sense trouble a few seconds before it happens, they are tricky little pestsAnswer: In addition to traps, mines, and orbital bombardment, Revan and the sith often employed meatbag assassins for some Jedi, skilled in the same techniques as I was trained in. Strangely enough, Revan believed that meatbags who did not use, or beleive in the force, were especially important, since in many respects, they were more difficult for a Jedi to detect. Revan had many of them trained to 'hide their minds' as it were. Again once these techniques were learned, the percentage of living Jedi began to decrease accordingly.Answer: Generally this was done by broadcasting strong emotions while thinking about something else. It was a curious technique but seemed to be effective in blinding the Jedi.
Whether guilt, lust, fear, - they act as mental interference making finding the intentions of the broadcasting meatbag difficult.Answer: Obviously, a force sensitive broadcasting such emotions puts themselves at risk of not using their powers properly. Since it seems to require an inner calm which most meatbags don't seem to possess. As much as a jedi could not use the technique, the sith lords cannot use it for much the same reasons - such passions as guilt, lust, or fear are rarely strengths to the sith code.Statement: The master felt it was ironic that only people who had experienced such passions, could harm a Jedi in such a way. That to kill a Jedi, you had to be a human being. Revan found that amusing.Statement: Odds is also a good tactic, there are few Jedi that can long hold their ground against a hundred attackers all firing at once, or being turned on by their own troops. But the most effective weapon against Jedi seems to be the erosion of the spirit.Answer: Revan claimed that psycological warfare against jedi was important because much of the power comes from their state of mind, their connection to this religion called the Force.
Revan said that many jedi have the capability to form connections to the life around them, although few of them realized the extent this is possible.Recollection: I believe my master speculated that many jedi did not fully form such connections because of their discipline, because they never opened their lives to the passions around them. I believe Revan termed it that 'One would need to be a human being to develop such connections' It is something that the Jedi code did not teach. One either knew it instinctively, or not. The only part of the saber that has any weight is the hilt. Would be so easy to have it activated and turn the hilt just wrong where you sever something.

Meaning you try to take on a force user, if you actually got a swing off, you would have to be careful where you saber got deflected to.Exactly, and also, I wouldnt want to know how many soldiers would cut themselves if they would be allowed to wield one.
Also, the creation of an Lightsaber (Thats the most im allowed to say, sorry, top secret rest ) requires usage of the Force and using it requires beeing force sensitive aswell to a certain degree.Do you really think you could wield an cylinder twice as hot as the sun without having the force to protect you? Prefer killing your zombies while up close and personal? Choosing the right melee weapons for 7-day, 14-day, and 21-day hoards will almost always guarantee the night ends in a blood bath.5. SledgehammerSledgehammer vs zombie nurse. The sledgehammer is a great close-range weapon- requiring forged iron to craft or sometimes found in working stiff's crates. This melee weapon offers 34 attacks per minute and usually will only take one direct hit to kill.If you’re looking to dismember and annihilate your kill, sledgehammer is a great choice. One swing and the zombie ends up a complete blood fountain.
Durable and reliable, what’s not to love? Here is how you can get it. Crafting hunting knife.2. ChainsawMowing down zombiesThe chainsaw is the most fun melee weapon. It can either be found or crafted with handlebars, a small engine, chainsaw parts, and chainsaw blade. Like most gas-powered weapons/tools, it consumes fuel very quickly and can be extremely loud- making you a huge target. If you don’t mind attracting all that new attention from hundreds of zombies, then have fun with the chainsaw by mowing down hoards and dismembering all those zombies.
Watch out for screamers spawning though, they seem to be attracted to the sound. Here is how you can get it. Crafting a chainsaw.1. MacheteInstant machete killThe machete is found by looting in various locations and inventories or crafted with a machete blade and leather. With quick speed, durability, and damage, it’s arguably the best melee weapon of the game. The machete swings fast enough that you can miss a hit or two without being stunned.
The reach is long and dismemberment or exploding zombie heads is almost definite. Instant attack, usually no delay, it’s the perfect weapon for close combat. Here is how you can get it.
What Are The Best Melee Weapons in State of Decay 2?Everyone knows that noise attracts zombies. They want to know where the party is at! To avoid these unwanted guests, using a melee weapon is your best option and there are plenty of them that you will find in your scavenging adventures. There are two types of players in a zombie fight. The hack and slash and the bludgeoner. You either like to slice through that dead flesh or pound its innards into nothing.
I personally like to hack them to pieces with a sharp edge but bashing their brains in will surely do the trick. At the end of the day, we all want a weapon that will withstand an unexpected horde. Apocalypse SwordLook how pointy it is.“A heavy Chinese was sword issued in the second World War, highly regarded for its potential to remove limbs in a single stroke.”The Apocalypse sword has maxed out stats in dismember, quietness and speed. It has medium stats on impact and durability with a high stat in ease of use. This is overall a very solid weapon with having maxed out stats in three areas.
It does have a zero knockdown, but that is not surprising since it is a bladed weapon. Slice through those rotting limbs as if they were butter. How to obtain: This is a weapon that you can get from a supply drop that you request on your walkie. Replica Bastard SwordYour chance to slay a beast with this nifty sword.“Though made in modern times, this weapon was lovingly forged with intense attention to detail.”The Replica Bastard Sword is maxed out in dismember, quietness and speed. It has medium stats in lethality and max durability. Low stats in impact and zero stats for knockdown and ease of use. These stats are solid and the sword itself is big and pretty (making it difficult to use).
Kotor Best Melee Weapons
You could get a knight and shining armor complex wielding this bad boy.How to obtain: You can find this through scavenging. Persian MeelThink of all the brains you can bash.“Ancient wrestlers used clubs like this one for exercise.
In a strong pair of hands it’ll deliver a devastating blow.”The Persian Meel has maxed out stats in impact and knockdown. It has high stats in quietness and speed. Low stats in ease of use, lethality and medium stats in max durability.
The dismember is at zero but that is because this is a blunt weapon. The stats are overall amazing on this beast. Knockdown the dead and take your anger out by bashing in their skulls. How to obtain: Your best bet for finding this rare weapon is finding hidden weapon caches. Luck for you I have found a video of where to find some of these caches. Monogear AxeSometimes you have to get crafty with making weapons.“It may have started as a bicycle gear, but now it exists only to cleave zombie skulls.”The Monogear Ax has maxed out stats in dismember, quietness and speed. It has high stats in ease of use.
Medium stats in impact, max durability and lethality. It has low stats in knockdown. Not only is this ax a beast, it is also uber cool looking. It is nice to have a weapon with overall good stats and you won’t drive yourself nuts trying to look for one since it is not a rare weapon. How to obtain: This is an item that can be found in weapon caches.
Bastard of Belleau WoodIt may look small but the power is undeniable.“This thing must be a century old, but it’s immaculately maintained, with a well-worn hands and brutal serrated edge. An inscription can be found on the blade, worn down but still barely legible: ‘Come on, you sons of bitches, do you want to live forever?’ SGT MAJ D.D. USMC 6/6/18”The Bastard of Belleau Wood has maxed out stats in dismember, lethality, speed and quietness. High stats in ease of use. Low stats in impact and max durability. Stats are at zero for knockdown.
This weapon is truly a killing machine. It does not look that impressive, but those looks are deceiving. This can be a one hitter with the right survivor, but it is so easy to use that even your weakling can hide behind this beautiful blade. How to obtain: This is one of the more difficult items to get and it may take you awhile.
They can be found in rare weapon caches. Here is a video that will show you where to find some of these rare weapon caches.
Hey guys,So this has been bothering me about the game for a long time. I don't understand why so many npc's and companions use melee weapons. It doesn't make sense. They have laser guns at their disposal, but they choose to use melee weapons instead. It kinda breaks immersion for me. Other than force users, a melee weapon could not be used efficiently in the hands of a non-force user. A ranged weapon would win every time.

I can see street thugs using vibro knifes, but prison guards, commandos, and others using an awkward looking sword thing? I don't think a mandalorian like Torian would use a vibro staff. I don't think a demolitions expert like Tano Vik would use a sword.
Not to mention these non-force using characters have the same run and battle animations with their swords and staves as the jedi and sith do. Do they have secret inside knowledge on jedi and sith fighting styles? Is there something I'm missing as to why so many non-force users use melee weapons in this game? I didn't play the KOTOR series, maybe there is an answer in there? I love this game, I have just been wondering about this little thing for too long. Thanks for the input guys!/endrant. 1: The melee weapons vibrate to do more damage and be more effective then a simple sword.2: They are covered in a sort of substance that is one of the few things light sabers can't cut through.3: I remember is KOTOR 2 that Attom Rand told you that in a fight between a fight between a guy with a sword and a guy with a blaster the guy with the sword will win as long as they can get close enough.Essentially they are to be used just in case they encounter a Jedi, Sith, or a lunatic that got hold of a lightsaber. Apparently the first Kotor game revealed that because Shields protected soldiers easily from blaster fire, and the increasing need for a efficient CQC weapon when boarding enemy ships or assaulting small planetary bases cortosis covered melee weapons has become standard issue within most of the galaxy's armed forces.I guess that still is the case in SWTOR, people sure seem to take a lot of shoots with a blaster rifle, that's for sureThis is the answer.
The alien merchant in the first apartment block you arrive at in Taris confirms this.Energy shields create a stale mate in blaster combat, so melee weapons once again become important to decide fights between shield users.
